Free undertone test

Are you warm, cool
or neutral?

Your undertone is the constant cast beneath your skin: warm leans golden and glows in gold and earth tones; cool leans pink or blue and glows in silver and jewel tones; neutral sits in between and wears both. This free five-question test reads the signals that actually work — gold vs. silver, sun response, and which white flatters you — and gives you your lean in under a minute. It’s step one of finding your full colour season.

Question 1 of 5

In natural daylight, your bare skin looks…

How the test works

Each question maps to a signal colour analysts use. The metal test (gold vs. silver against bare skin) and white vs. cream are the most reliable; sun response and the colours you get complimented in back them up. We deliberately weight no single answer too heavily — the majority decides — which is why the popular veins test isn’t the whole story.

Undertone is only step one

Temperature (warm/cool) is one of three axes. Your exact season also depends on depth (light to deep) and clarity (soft to bright). Two people can both be warm and land in completely different seasons. Once you know your undertone, take the full colour quiz or read what season am I to place yourself among the twelve.

Frequently asked

How do I know if I'm warm or cool toned?+

Use several checks together in daylight: gold vs. silver against bare skin, pure white vs. cream, and how your skin responds to sun. Gold, cream and easy tanning point warm; silver, pure white and easy burning point cool. This quiz scores them for you.

Can your undertone be neutral?+

Yes. Neutral undertones wear both gold and silver reasonably well and suit a wide range of colours. They usually still have a slight lean, which — together with depth and clarity — decides the exact season.

Is the veins test accurate?+

Not on its own. Vein colour depends on skin thickness as much as undertone, so it's only a weak tiebreaker. The metal and white-vs-cream checks are far more reliable, which is why this quiz leans on those.

What do I do after finding my undertone?+

Take the full colour quiz for your exact season and palette, or use the Atelier app's selfie analysis. Undertone narrows you to two families; depth and clarity finish the job.
