The 12 seasons
What season am I?
How to actually tell.
Your colour season comes down to three things: your undertone (warm/golden vs. cool/pink), your depth (how light or deep your colouring is overall), and your clarity(soft and muted vs. bright and clear). Read those three and you land in one of twelve seasons — the four families (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) each split three ways. Below are the honest at-home checks that actually work, the myths that mislead people, and why the “soft” seasons are the hardest to guess. If you’d rather skip straight to the answer, the quiz does all three reads for you.
The three questions that decide it
1. Undertone. Warm skin has a golden or peach cast; cool skin leans pink, rosy or blue. 2. Depth. Look at your hair, skin and eyes together — is the overall picture light and airy, or deep and rich? 3. Clarity. Are your features soft and blended (little contrast), or sharp and bright (high contrast, clear eyes)? Every season is just a combination of these three.
At-home checks that actually work
Gold vs. silver. Hold a gold necklace, then a silver one, to your bare face in daylight. The metal that makes your skin look even and awake points to your temperature (gold = warm, silver = cool). White vs. cream. Pure white flatters cool seasons; soft cream/ivory flatters warm ones — the “wrong” white adds a grey or sallow tinge. Sun response. Easy burners often skew cool; easy tanners often skew warm. Use these together, never one alone.
The myths that mislead people
The veins test (blue vs. green wrists) is the famous one — and the least reliable, since vein colour depends on skin thickness as much as undertone. Treat it as a weak tiebreaker, not proof. Likewise, “I have brown hair so I’m an Autumn” skips depth and clarity entirely. No single feature decides your season; it’s the combination.
Why the soft seasons trip everyone up
Soft Summer, Soft Autumn and the neutral seasons sit between warm and cool, which is exactly why people mistype themselves. If gold and silver both look “fine,” and bright colours feel a little too loud on you, you’re likely in soft/muted territory — and that’s the case where a scored analysis beats eyeballing it. Browse all twelve seasons to see where you might fall.
The fastest way to know
The quiz asks the same questions an analyst would — gold vs. silver, sun response, contrast, how you look in white — and scores all three axes at once, including the soft in-between cases people get wrong. You get your family free, then can unlock your exact season with its full palette.
